| Jason has been laminating surfboards since he was fifteen,opting out of school early he started his career with Nigel Woodcock of Wavekraft surfboards,where Tad Ciastula of Vitamin Sea surfboards also worked.He served a two year apprenticeship in all aspects of surfboard construction,soon he found his niche,which was to be laminating. Experimenting was always his thing,working with carbon,polystyrene foams and epoxy resins in the late 80’s,for example,he made triple layered carbon epoxy speed boards for Vit sea windsurfer’s ,which u could hit with a hammer !! This part of his career which was so long ago is playing dividend now with CRT technology,carbon has been a passion of his since the begining. |  |
Later he moved and worked for just about everyone in the British surf industry at one time or another,making big differences where ever he moved,but a frustration began to grow inside him,being governed by the money driven non surfers in charge,never allowed to express his true talents and view’s,they were mere thoughts !
Now here he plays a role in all aspects of the board ,and we think this makes a big difference to the overall end product,Skindog surfboards is unique in this way from shaper to ding boy,everyone has a say !! Making it a refreshing environment to be in ! a far cry from your average factory clique.
Jason’s reputation is worldwide from Cornwall to California where Bill Stewart of Stewart longboard’s once said “Jason is one of the best laminators i have ever come across”And he has come across a few.
Your more likely to catch him in the surf than in the factory,but is always on the phone to answer any problems you may have. Like all of us he is driven by a love for surfing,not money,big business or corporate companies!!
