"Ok well, I'm Zak Lawton, aged 15 years and hooked on surfing and have been so for around 5 years. I moved from Oxford where I didn't really do a lot to be honest. When I was 9 I started short boarding and quickly found myself and a group of friends loving life, going surfing all the time, although I was a bit of a pussy the first 2 winters and didn't even go in once I don't think, but don’t worry I'm over that phase (in my toasty wetsuits, thanks Rhino). A few years ago I took to the competing side of short boarding, and really enjoyed it; I soon achieved a few podium places. 3 years ago a local surf school, Surf South West offered me a little sponsorship of decent training once a week, which I loved and now work there when not at school. In the now world I have several sponsors that all help me out in different and useful ways so thanks to them." "These companies all help me in a lot of ways and I owe a lot to them. In early 2008 I was forced into trying longboarding, by one of my best friends Ben Howarth, This was probably one of the best things that has happened to me. I entered the first BLU and came 4th which I was extremely happy with. From here I decided I seriously wanted to pursue a career in the sport. I have been training hard since then and although I still love short boarding I am very serious about doing well in longboarding. I find these complement each other very well, my main aims are to win all British and English titles in the next few years and also move into being European champion, my dream which I am sure I can do one day is to be World Champion.
